Welcome to freestyle – medley’s new interactive content creation engine that’s built for educators.
This guide will walk you through creating your first game, step-by-step. When we’re done, we’ll have created the fully featured platform-style game – with multiple levels – that you’ll see if you watch the video above. You’ll know exactly how to add your own art and sounds and make your game interactive. And we’ll even show you how to use some of the features that make freestyle special: like our Questions Manager, which lets you configure and manage your educational content separate from your games – so you can build and publish multiple games that target multiple audiences quickly and easily.
Because we want to make sure that you have all of the tools and knowledge you need to create any game you can imagine, this guide goes into depth. If you’ve ever learned to use a program like Photoshop, you can imagine it like that: this guide will take a couple of evenings – 6 to 8 hours – to complete, but at the end, you’ll know everything you need to create a new game in just an hour or two. To make sure you’re setup for success, you need to finish this tutorial – and mark every lesson as complete – before you can create other new games in freestyle or publish new games on medley.
